Running from home plate to first base is 90 feet or 1,080 inches.

Running from home plate around all the bases, ending at home plate again is 360 feet or 4,320 inches.

A runner has to run around the bases approximately 14 1/2 times to equal 1 mile.

He would have to run around the bases 1,722 times to equal the length of Long Island, New York which is 118 miles long.
